I get the feeling you're insulting yourself, but it's a little too cheerful for that.

Well, it isn't exactly a good thing, but I don't feel regretful about it either. I can probably speak as a voice of Morgan when I say we enjoy you too much to let a couple cardiac arrests get in the way.

[ He smiles at her for a moment before tilting his head. ]

So if we're not killing anyone for now, can I convince you to get a little rest?

[bloodandblunder]

... Eh? [ no, really, she looks surprised. ] Do I really look that bad?

Like you've been trying and failing to sleep on a bed of sharp rocks for the past week or so, maybe.

[ sorry it's true ]

[ ... Ah. ]

Any time. [ Really. ] So get a bit of rest, please. You won't be much good in an emergency if you're already half-dead on your feet.

[bloodandblunder]

If you'd wanted to get rid of me, you could have just told me to go... [ but she says it with a faint bit of humor. ] But I get the point.

[memlost]

[ ...!! ]

But I don't want to get rid of you! I like spending time with you, Noire.

[ And so the humor is lost on him. This has to be clear. Absolutely clear. ]

Can you promise me you'll go straight home and get some sleep?

[bloodandblunder]

[ whoa Morgan that's a whole lot of earnestness-- and it leaves Noire blinking slowly at him, clearly caught off-guard. ]

I'll... try? [ after a pause, she'll quickly add: ] I've always had a hard time sleeping, but I can promise to try, at least.

[memlost]

I always used to curl up with a book to send myself off, but...

[ Yeah. Not gonna work here. After a moment of thought, he starts off toward her house. ]

Well, we'll see how it goes.

[ wait, why is he going-- ]

You don't have to come with me...

If you do end up having trouble sleeping, then I'll help send you off one way or another. I remember bits of a strategy text I read in the library, so maybe I can recite some of that for you...

Is that really something to fall asleep to? I feel like that's making light of tacticians...

Either you fall asleep to it like we want you to, or you stay awake and learn a thing or two about strategy. It's a win-win scenario, and that's pretty sound tactics to me!

[ tacticians and pragmatism... ]

[ The most pragmatic-- but it makes her smile. ]

At least there's that... I guess it couldn't hurt.

[ And so it becomes a smile boomerang, because her smile makes him smile too. ]

Right. So prepare yourself for a firm tucking in!

I'm not exactly sure how to prepare for that... [ but they're at her block now, so she'll get the door open and step inside, trusting he'll follow. The bow will go in her room, propped against one leg of the bunk bed, and Noire is already reaching down to take off her boots.

Yeah, she's not even going to act like she isn't tired. ]

[ Follow he does. He sets Mr. Wallop next to her bow and arranges it neatly while Noire is de-booting, then looks around at her room curiously. It's always interesting to see the things people have when there's so little to be had. ]

Who are your roommates, anyway?

Gilbert and Oz and a... er, a voice.

[ yeeeep. There's not much on her end, except several bits of miscellaneous items on top of a nightstand; she might have been working on talismans. But she settles herself on the edge of the bed and sighs. ]

I don't really know them all that well, but Oz and Morgan are close.

[memlost]

[ ... a voice... Anyway, he sits on the floor by her legs, leaning back against her bed. ]

Ah, Oz. I've lived with his sister Ada ever since I got here. I guess Morgans are just meant to be friends with Vessaliuses.

[ Family names coming in handy in everyday application, oooh. ]

Are they that close, though? I had no idea.

I didn't know he had a sister... [ she'll blink down at him, though. ]

... But I think they are? From what she told me about him, it sounds like she likes him a lot. Maybe like likes.

[ -- And he turns to blink up at her. ]
